The Goulburn Valley follows the Goulburn River from Lake Eildon north to the Murray at Cobram and Yarrawonga. Shepparton is the centre, surrounded by orchards, dairy farms and fruit processing plants that pull in seasonal workers every summer. Seymour, Nagambie and Euroa sit on the Hume Freeway at the southern end, closer to Melbourne than to Shepparton. Irrigation water decides most of what happens here.
