Orana takes in Dubbo and the plains north and west of it, out past Nyngan, Cobar and Bourke. Dubbo is the service centre for a third of the state, with a base hospital, the Taronga Western Plains Zoo and a large saleyard and freight trade. Beyond it the work is sheep, cattle, cotton on the Macquarie and copper and gold mining at Cobar.
