The Central West covers the tablelands and slopes from Bathurst and Orange out to Parkes and Forbes. Orange runs on cool climate wine, orchards and the Cadia gold mine. Bathurst has Charles Sturt University and the Mount Panorama circuit. West of them the country flattens into wheat, sheep and the Parkes freight hub on the inland rail alignment.
