Illawarra and South Coast, New South Wales
This region runs from Wollongong and the escarpment suburbs south through Nowra and Batemans Bay to Eden near the Victorian border. Wollongong has the Port Kembla steelworks and the University of Wollongong. South of Kiama it turns into dairy, oysters, fishing and holiday towns that triple in size over January. The 2019 and 2020 fires burnt through much of the Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla and the rebuild is still visible.
