Yackandandah Gorge Scenic Walk

The gorge at Yackandandah was dug as a tail race to sluice gravel and sand for gold, first by hand and later deepened with dynamite, and the result is a twisting creek walk with cascades and shady overhanging trees. The signposted circuit is 3.5km and takes about 75 minutes, graded 2 on a hardened compacted surface with gentle hills and occasional steps, though the upper gorge is steeper and needs sure footing. A five minute access point from Bells Flat Road suits anyone who cannot manage the full walk. Gold panning is no longer permitted in the creek.
