Registration runs nationally through the Dental Board of Australia and Ahpra, so unlike a trade licence it does not stop at the river. Public dental care does stop there: New South Wales and Victoria run separate schemes with their own eligibility rules and waiting lists, and which one applies depends on where a patient lives, not which clinic is nearest.
