Clipper cuts, fades, beard trims and hot towel shaves, still largely walk in trade though booking apps have taken hold in Albury Wodonga and Wagga. No national board oversees barbering, so training ranges from a full Certificate III in Barbering to on the job learning. Victorian shops register the premises with the local council under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act. Blades and clippers get reused between clients, so the sterilising setup is a fair thing to check.

The Rock takes its name from Kengal, the granite outcrop in the nature reserve just west of town, which has a walking track to the summit. The town sits on the Olympic Highway and the Wagga to Albury rail line, and plenty of residents drive to Wagga for work. Cropping, contract harvesting and a growing set of rural residential blocks make up the local trade.
