Lake Hume sits about 20 kilometres east of the Albury CBD and is one of Australia's most important water storages, its dam completed in 1936 when it was the largest in the southern hemisphere. Four parks give public access to the water: Table Top Reserve, Bowna Waters Reserve, Apex Park (The Pines) and Lake Hume Tourist Park Beach. The lake is used for boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding, with public boat ramps at Apex Park, Bowna Waters Reserve, Kremur Street, Lake Hume Village and Mungabareena Reserve.
