Vehicle Inspections in NSW and Victoria

Safety inspections before registration. The two states do this differently and it catches people out constantly: New South Wales wants an annual eSafety check, the pink slip, on any light vehicle over five years old, while Victoria has no annual test and asks for a roadworthy certificate only when a car changes hands, comes back onto the register or clears a defect notice. A station is authorised by its own state, so an Albury pink slip is not a Wodonga roadworthy and neither substitutes for the other.

How this category is built

A vehicle inspection station appears in every town it services, not only the town it is registered in. That is why the town counts on this page add up to more than 6. Address and service area are held as separate facts, which is the whole reason a business on one side of the Murray is not invisible on the other.

Listings are marked up as AutoRepair in the structured data. Ordering comes from a quality score, and where it exists, promoted placement is boxed and labelled. How we handle advertising.

Questions about vehicle inspections

How many vehicle inspections are listed on LocalsKnow?

6 vehicle inspections across 16 towns, 10 in New South Wales and 6 in Victoria. A business appears in every town it services, not only the one it is registered in, so the town counts add up to more than the listing count.

Which towns have the most vehicle inspections?

Baranduda with 4, Howlong with 4, Tallangatta with 4. Coverage starts on the border corridor and works outwards, so the ordering here reflects where the directory has been built out, not where the trade is busiest.

What schema type do vehicle inspections use, and why does that matter?

Every listing in this category is marked up as AutoRepair rather than a generic LocalBusiness. The type carries the properties that fit the business, so opening hours, service area and credentials are read as what they are. Marking a vehicle inspection station up as a generic business tells a search engine almost nothing, and it costs the rich result.

How is the order on these pages decided?

By a quality score built from profile completeness, whether the business has claimed its listing, and whether a licence has been checked against the state register. Rating breaks a tie. Payment does not enter it at any point, and any promoted slot is boxed, labelled, and kept out of the structured data.
